Managing and understanding Compassion Fatigue and Secondary Trauma

Compassion fatigue and secondary trauma are both real yet often ignored issues for many professions. This engaging workshop helps allow staff opportunity to explore in an informal and safe environment the challenges faced when working with upsetting records, the impact this has and ideas for identifying and dealing with emotional distress, compassion fatigue and secondary trauma.

Course Tutor
Martin Smith is a specialist trainer in communication, interpersonal skills, conflict management and personal safety with nearly thirty years training experience. He is also a psychotherapist with a private practice specialising in the treatment of anxiety, depression, stress, phobias and post-traumatic stress disorders. He has been in clinical practice for nearly twenty years and also works as an associate for the East Midlands NHS Professional support services.
