Hello Sarah,

Great to hear that Opticon have been so helpful! Our scanners are also from them, though as I've only been here for two years, I imagine that any problems with them were ironed out years ago. They've always worked fantastically.

We have three staplers at our library: a standard office stapler, a long-armed stapler, and a hulking industrial-strength one that can punch through a good twenty pages at a time. With the help of one of our users, we settled on 'Lanky' for the long-armed one, 'Arnold Schwarzenegger' for the super-strong one, and 'just your average gym-goer' for the standard stapler.

I hope that was sufficiently fun for your Friday! :)

Would you enlighten us as to how Scottie's name was chosen?

All the best,

Anna

You’ll all be glad to know that with a little help from Opticon ( I cannot recommend them enough for all the help they gave us) we now have a fully functioning barcode scanner that has now been named Scottie.

Just for a little Friday fun do you have names for things in your libraries?

Thanks,

Sarah

Subject: Library Scanner

Hello,

Just a quick and possibly odd question this Thursday morning. We’ve just bought a new library scanner after being without for some time and we’ve discovered that it only likes to scan certain barcodes, mostly the newer ones. The older ones it simply does not understand. Has anyone else had this problem? Or can you recommend a good barcode scanner that works with all your barcodes both old and new?

Thanks,

Sarah
