More importantly though, there was no mechanism for keeping this up to date. There could easily be such a thing, perhaps on similar lines to SHINE, where each Authority could upload latest after making any change, or (more ambitious) pulling in the data live from WFS. Without this, some Authorities put data on data.gov,<http://scanmail.trustwave.com/?c=6600&d=vbHJ3M7u9UipKyYALH7j9A3T79KpsfaOjRmvwLJxFg&s=658&u=http%3a%2f%2fdata%2egov> some publish it themselves, some don’t, and it all seems rather random. We can but dream… Crispin PS This might be seen as within the remit of a new Heritage Gateway, for example, though the dislocation (in some areas) between HERs and the services that define Conservation Areas would bring challenges. THINK before you CLICK links or OPEN attachments. ________________________________ Hi all, Just wondered whether anyone else has had an enquiry from a company who are seeking to obtain digital data pertaining to Conservation Areas - they build specialist mapping systems to identified development opportunities (a data-driven development potential analysis platform)! They (will) apparently monitor all CA’s for changes to boundaries / new designations etc somehow. I’ll have to talk to our IT dept. about whether they will happily provide our data or if they would want to licence it etc, but interested to see if anyone else had a similar approach / how their authority responded.
