OK John, I will issue a brief post event. In regard to the ABTEM Guidelines I am writing a proposed revision for the Safety section but whether ABTEM choose to adopt it remains to be seen. Regards

Dear Ian,

Regret unable to attend due to other commitments. Would be interested in a summary of the accident and actions taken at some point to see if there is anything to be learnt. Any correlation to the guidance issued last year on heavy objects would also be of interest.

Regards,

John Webb

Colleagues, as the planned diversity session at Duxford has now dropped back to later in 2019 I am pleased to advise that the above meeting will now take place next month instead.

It is an opportunity to visit the site and see for yourselves the work done to make the mill compliant with current views on guarding and safety management following the tragic fatality there a year ago. The inquest and regulatory investigation are both now complete and Heckington Windmill Trust are able to share their experience of the process as well as demonstrate the working machinery and allow access to view the works undertaken.

For those who attended the session last June where the overview of the accident was given this will be an opportunity to get the full learning from the tragedy and hear from and question staff and volunteers at the mill. This is out of area - Lincolnshire - and I am investigating the possibility of using a minibus to pick up delegates from a central location - such as Cambridge if there is sufficient demand. Heckington does have its own railway station and services but from Cambridge and points east it takes 3 hours whilst driving from Cambridge to Heckington is 2 hours.

At this stage I am gauging interest and would just ask you to respond to me with - 1. do you wish to attend, 2. happy to make your own way to Heckington and 3. would a minibus pick up in Cambridge be of interest.

I look forward to hearing from you asap to determine the viability of this special meeting. Happy New Year and all that, regards.
