The Department of Business, Law and Society within the Faculty of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences (EHSS) at St Mary's University Twickenham is looking for a dedicated individual to undertake the role of External Examiner for the MBA International Business Practice programme from September 2019 for a four-year term.

The St Mary's MBA programme is delivered in collaboration with Mountbatten Programmes Ltd in London, New York and Bangkok. Students on the programme are required to study and work in either London or New York for 12 months followed by a 4-month study period in Bangkok.  The Programme comprises a series of 20-credit modules and a 60-credit field research/dissertation. The modules on the MBA programme are as follows:

An overview of your role and responsibilities includes:


§  Confirming the comparability of assessment grades/standards of MBA students at St Mary's University with those of other MBA programmes delivered at other UK HE Institutions of Higher Education.

§  Confirming that the assessment process corresponds to the University Academic Regulations, and therefore has been fairly conducted with full regard to justice to students.

§  Reporting and advising on the above by means of approving coursework and examination papers and providing an Annual Report to the University.

§  Providing constructive feedback, if required, on areas of the programme content or delivery that may improve the quality and/or student experience aspects of the programme.

The appointee will be required to moderate a sample of assessed coursework, produce an Annual Report and attend two Programme Exam Boards per academic year.  The ideal candidate should have appropriate expertise/experience of leading and/or teaching on an MBA programme.  You should not already hold more than two other UK Higher Education External Examiner post at the start of the contract and you should be qualified to at least the level of the programme to be examined.
