In this seminar we will look at the challenges and opportunities of multilingual classrooms. We will discuss key terms and conceptual tools for talking about linguistic diversity and multilingual practices, as well as at approaches to multilingual classrooms in different settings. We will present a ‘manifesto’ for multilingual education and discuss the feasibility of adopting multilingual approaches in current ESOL and EAL contexts.
The seminar will be participatory and will be led by academics and practitioners from KCL and EFA.
There will be no charge for participation, and if you wish to attend, please email Mel Cooke to reserve your place at [log in to unmask]. For security reasons you must register in advance.
Seminar 2 is likely to focus on linguistic ideologies and beliefs in the language classroom, and will take place in May.
