Thanks for this Amy โ€“ very useful.

If anyone would be planning to attend any of these conferences and like some help in putting together a submission Iโ€™d be more than happy to support.

Alistair

Hi Alistair,

A very Merry Christmas to you and to all!

A few associations/conferences that spring to mind:
ARLIS - https://arlis.net/category/conferences/

Books, Publishing and Libraries Conference - https://booksandpublishing.com/2019-conference

Further afield...
MLA 2019 convention - Textual Transactions - https://www.mla.org/Convention/MLA-2019

ARLIS North America - https://arlisna.org/news/conferences/887-2019-47th-annual-conference

I hope that is helpful - Intellect usually either attends or sends promotional material to these, and many other academic conferences in the arts/media&comms throughout the year. Anyone who'd like to connect with us on a conference, let me know!

Very best,
Amy

Subject: EPUB - raising awareness among end-users

Hi all

Thank you so much to all who participated in the Christmas quiz yesterday!

Thinking ahead to the New Year, Richard Orme (DAISY consortium) and I are keen to find opportunities to help library staff and disability support staff become more familiar with EPUB. Currently the majority of practitioners are still focused on PDFs, despite the fact that EPUB versions are potentially much more accessible.

We are looking for possible conferences where we could submit workshop ideas. Although we are primarily looking at library focused conferences there may be value in us identifying some publisher focused conferences to since one of the elements of the Aspire audit was to give marks for providing information about the relative accessibility benefits of different formats. The more suppliers are able to provide this information, the more likely we are to get staff and students confident in trying this "new-fangled format" and discovering the significant benefits it offers.

Please let me have any suggestions you have either before the Christmas break or in early January.

I'm on leave from tomorrow so I'd like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and hope that within all the seasonal hustle and bustle you'll find an opportunity to be quiet, reflective and kind to yourself. It will contribute to peace on earth and goodwill to all ๐Ÿ˜Š

All the best

Alistair
