Part-Time Tutors required: Professional Education in Archives, Records Management, Digital Preservation & Family History by Distance Learning
The Centre for Archive and Information Studies (CAIS) at the University of Dundee is the largest international provider of distance-learning education for archivists, records
managers and family & local historians. CAIS offers Masters degrees, doctoral and postgraduate research opportunities, postgraduate certificates and single course study for continuing professional development. The programmes attract students from all over
the world. Due to the ongoing development of our course provision and high student demand additional tutors are now required.
Applications from experienced recordkeeping professionals are welcomed, including applications from outside the UK. CAIS would particularly welcome applications from individuals
with knowledge and experience of the following subjects:

Metadata
·
Records management
·
Archive management
·
Digital preservation
·
Information security
·
Audio visual archives
·
Genealogy and family history
·
Recordkeeping theory and its relation to practice
·
Cataloguing
Applications from alternative subject areas will also be considered.
Modules are delivered through the University of Dundee’s Virtual Learning Environment and last nine or fifteen weeks. Further information is available on the CAIS website

Current tutors have a wide variety of professional backgrounds. Tutors monitor student progress, mark assignments, provide feedback during the semester and facilitate online
discussion and debate. Teaching can take place in the evening or during weekends and most current tutors undertake teaching alongside full-time employment.
Prospective tutors should have relevant professional experience, a proven interest in research and be committed to furthering education in recordkeeping disciplines. Previous
teaching experience will be an advantage. New tutors will be appointed Honorary Teaching Fellows of the University.
