I think the burning issue is how to prevail upon the world’s oldest universities to rapidly transform their teaching to repudiate religious misconceptions about the evolution of sentient life on earth that were established before the world’s oldest universities were established.

Otherwise, according to the teaching of Christian professors Immanuel Kant and Ludwig Feuerbach over two centuries ago. the conditions necessary for the evolution of sentient life on earth will cease to exist prematurely.

This raises the question of how to prevent the further misrepresentation by the Chinese Communist Party (and other organisations calling themselves ‘Marxist’) that what Chinese universities teach bears any resemblance to what the original ‘young Feuerbachians’ Marx and Engels taught in their struggle to develop  the International Workingmen's Association but was not taught by the Socialist International under Kautsky’s leadership, prompting Engels to write and publish Ludwig Feuerbach and the End of Classical German Philosophy.

(I attach the latest version of an essay I started working on to critique the disintegration of the Fourth International which I joined in the ‘60s. I was expelled as a result of my criticism 10 years ago; by which time it only had a handful of members. The title may seem flippant, but it’s a philosophy I hold dear.)

Best wishes

Subject: CLS symposium call for 2019

Dear colleagues

As it's the start of 2019 I thought it would be good to think if anyone has any plans to put together a CLS one day/two day symposium this year? We would welcome any ideas anyone has and offers to put this together. Support will of course be provide by CLS. We try as far as possible to make these self-financing by charging as much as it costs to put on the event and to try to keep this as low as possible.

Thoughts? themes?  If you could get back with ideas by 18 January please.

Best wishes

Jane
