Vacancy at HSBC London Archives

Digital Projects Archivist, 12 month fixed term, with competitive salary and benefits offered

This is an exciting opportunity to join HSBC's team of archivists spanning London, Hong Kong, Paris and New York. The successful candidate will report to the Digital Archives Manager and be based at the Archive Centre in Canning Town, E16. 

The main focus will be on providing support to the major projects and workstreams that underpin HSBC’s Global Digital Archive system (GDA). The award-winning GDA was launched in 2015 to ensure sustainable digital preservation in the bank. 

Tasks will include:  
•	appraising and cataloguing deposited born-digital records
•	collecting born-digital records (e.g. via bank EDRM systems, website crawls)
•	digitisation of physical records in preparation for a planned public access portal
•	ingesting digitised content (e.g. oral histories, film clips) and enhancing catalogue descriptions where necessary
•	basic technical administrative duties to support the day-to-day running of the Global Digital Archive system  (running workflow reports, user testing)

There will also be some opportunities to support the unit's wider activities. For example:
•	research and enquiry work
•	supervising researchers
•	preparing exhibition displays, blogs and articles, tours

Requirements: 	
The jobholder must have a first degree and a post-graduate qualification in Archives Management (or a related discipline such as Records Management/Library Studies - with specialism in Archives).

The jobholder should have previous experience working in Archives. Previous experience of digital archives, and familiarity with CALM and Preservica software, will be an advantage. However full training will be provided to the successful candidate during induction. The role would be ideal for an experienced archivist looking to expand their skill set in the digital environment. Recently qualified Archives graduates are also welcome to apply. 

Successful candidates will have enthusiasm and initiative; with a good understanding of how archives can be used to support the objectives of a multinational business. Excellent communication, customer service and time management skills are essential.
