Rendall Building, Seminar Room 5

Machine learning methods are increasingly used to process large volumes of non-structured documents, as has been underlined by institutions such as the National Archives and Records Administration (US)
and The National Archives (UK). In parallel, the archival community is embracing the linked data paradigm and the International Council on Archives is, for example, actively developing the Records-in-Context Ontology. This talk will place these developments
in a larger historical context and outline both possibilities and challenges for the archival and records management profession.
Seth van Hooland is an associate professor at the Université libre de Bruxelles, where he is currently the head of the Information and Communication Sciences department. His research focuses on metadata quality and the usage of linked data within
archives and records management.
There is no need to RSVP for this seminar.
