VACANCY: Research Associate or Research Fellow (New Forms of Data) Location : University of Manchester Division : Cathie Marsh Institute for Social Research (CMI) Hours Per week : Full time Closing Date : 29/01/2019 We wish to appoint a Grade 6 Research Associate or Grade 7 Research Fellow to join the UK Data Service User Support and Training team at the Cathie Marsh Institute to provide training in new forms of data for social science and cross-disciplinary research. Applicants should specify on their application form whether they wish to be considered for the position of Grade 6 Research Associate or Grade 7 Research Fellow, or both. The UK Data Service is a resource funded by the ESRC to support researchers, policymakers and Higher Education teachers. It provides access to an extensive range of high quality economic and social data. From the website, users can search the collection and download data and related documentation for analysis. The UK Data Service is delivered by staff with special expertise in research data based at several institutions across the UK, including the CMI at the University of Manchester. The UK Data Service also provides a wealth of training events (webinar and workshops) and online training/support materials such as guides, video tutorials and helpdesk support. The User Support and Training function of the UK Data Service is led by CMI but delivered by all UK Data Service partners The Research Associate/Fellow will use their background experience of handling, manipulating and analysing new forms of data to develop and deliver training events (workshops and webinars) and online training materials to meet the needs of social science and cross-disciplinary researchers. The person appointed will work closely with senior staff leading the programme of training work and with other staff employed to deliver training.
