Project title: Development of a Software Tool for Musculoskeletal Diffusion Tensor Image Analysis

Salary: £30,395 to £39,609 per annum, subject to an annual pay award.



The aim of this project is to develop a software tool for Musculoskeletal (MSK) Diffusion Tensor Image (DTI) analysis and to understand the pathway to commercialise the developed MSK DTI software. The underpinning research of the project is in the areas of computational statistics, medical image analysis and musculoskeletal science. This project will be led by Dr Diwei Zhou in Mathematics and Professor Jonathan Folland in Sports Science at Loughborough University with collaborative support from Professor Vicky Goh at Guy's and St. Thomas's Hospitals (London) and Professor Paul Morgan from Nottingham University Hospitals. The project is funded by the Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF). The post will start from February 2019.



Applicants must have a PhD in Computer Science or Statistics or Mathematics or a closely related discipline (awarded or in submission); expertise in medical image analysis; track record of research in computational statistics or image analysis and developing efficient programs for image analysis. They must have strong programming skills in MATLAB and an efficient compiled language like C/C++ or Java/Scala; excellent written and oral communication skills and skills in effective time management.



This is a full-time 10-month post from February until November 2019, with possibility of extension.
