About the Conference

The 16th International Conference on Competition and Ownership in Land Passenger Transport (The Thredbo Series) will be held at the Nanyang Executive Centre of the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, from Sunday 25 to Thursday 29 August 2019 with a technical tour of the Singapore Bus Academy at Jurong on Friday 30 August. The conference is jointly hosted by the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore under the auspices of the NTU-LTA Transport Research Centre. This is the first time that the conference is being hosted in an Asian location and Singapore is particularly pleased to have been chosen for this milestone event in the history of the Thredbo Series.

The Thredbo Conference Series (named for the first conference in the series held in Thredbo, Australia in 1989) has garnered a formidable reputation for being the premier international forum dedicated to the analysis and debate of competition and ownership issues in land passenger transport. This influential forum attracts high quality participation and delivers a large portfolio of impressive material synthesising developments not only from developed economies but increasingly from developing economies.

The conference series is aimed at a broad audience of policy makers, planners, decision makers on infrastructure and service operators, consultants, researchers, academics and students. As with past conferences, Thredbo 16 will feature one and a half days of plenary sessions and two days of intensive workshops based around keynote papers and a series of resource papers providing a range of international perspectives on each issue. The conference series is, first and foremost, about our delegates and their contributions. Delegates remain with their workshop throughout the workshop sessions in order to contribute to the evolving debate and discussion. Through their thoughtful insights and the papers, that they prepare and present, informed discussions transpire which lead to the final conference report.

Papers are invited from practitioners and academics on the workshop themes below. The Call for Abstracts<https://itls.cmail20.com/t/d-l-ndtdjjl-ykhhtdhkj-n/> has been extended to 5 January 2019. Full details of the Workshop Themes and the Abstract Submission process are provided below and on the conference website<https://itls.cmail20.com/t/d-l-ndtdjjl-ykhhtdhkj-p/>.
