Hello Bryony,

I would be wary of a marketers claim that they can promote better than ourselves. We know it is very challenging contacting teachers (even finding which teacher is the history co-ordinator in a primary school has a very low success rate in my experience!) and it all seems to be about building relationships with schools and individual teachers. My suspicion would be that they are simply going to use this database of teachers and just send out lots and lots of untargeted emails on your behalf. Are they constantly updating the database as teachers move onto different responsibilities, different year groups, etc.?

I may be a little cynical however. I also don’t have any faith in those directories of heritage venues. Etc. that marketing people compile and try and get you to buy slots in.

It's a no from me.

David

Subject: Using marketing companies to promote education programmes

Hi GEMers,

I'm interested to find out about people's experiences using schools marketing companies to promote education workshops. We have been approached by a company called 'Schools Marketing Company.' The draw being a claim of access to a database of teachers personal school e-mail addresses. Has any one used this company or a company like it and what were the results like?

Thanks for your help

Bryony
