I am procrastinating with marking!

So, Amanda - at University of Gloucestershire it is indeed the "Head of School or Head of Subject" that Chairs the assessment boards for their own School / Subject.

I have never noticed - in 25 years - any bias/ dodgy dealing.

Incidentally - separate issue/ 'soap box' - all of our exam boards (internal and external) are paperless/ electronic.......a small contribution to sustainability.

Subject: Question: Chairs of assessment/exam boards

Dear Colleagues

It's the last official working day of the year here, may I offer a very brief quiz to mark the occasion?

At UWL we currently task the Head of School or Head of Subject to Chair the assessment boards for their own School / Subject. We're discussing whether or not this could be a potential conflict of interest. So far, no External has commented unfavourably on this. I'd be delighted to have input from you on:

1. Practice in your institution

2. Your views on potential conflicts

Please do feel free to email me privately if you want to keep this off the discussion forum; I will be happy to post an anonymised summary if anyone is interested in the outcomes.

Very grateful for your views on this.

Wishing a very happy Winter Solstice and Christmas for those who celebrate and a good break for all

Best Wishes
Amanda
