Call for access to Synchrotron Beamline Facilities, 2019 - EMBL
Hamburg, Germany
Submission deadline: Sunday 16 December 2018
We would like to remind you about the call for synchrotron beam time
applications in biological small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and
macromolecular crystallography (MX) for the period March - December
2019. The following EMBL/DESY beamlines at PETRA III are available:
P12 (SAXS), P13 (MX), and P14 (MX).
For the groups applying for beamtime to work on several projects in
MX and/or SAXS, we strongly recommend the submission of BAG (Block
Allocation Group) proposals. Mail-in projects to use the robotic
sample changer or inline SEC-SAXS are encouraged for SAXS. Proposals
utilizing the new time-resolved crystallographic endstation P14.EH2
are encouraged for MX.
The deadline for submission of proposals for 2019 is Sunday 16
December 2018 (midnight CET) after which the proposals will
be evaluated by an external Project Evaluation Committee. The users
will be informed about the results of their application by 4
February 2019.
A detailed description of the three beamlines and links to the
electronic proposal forms can be found at:
SAXS: http://www.embl-hamburg.de/services/saxs/index.html
MX: http://www.embl-hamburg.de/services/mx/index.html
Submit a proposal via the EMBL Hamburg user portal: https://smis.embl-hamburg.de/misapps/SMISWebClient/protected/welcome.do
Access to the EMBL Hamburg facilities also includes assistance with
crystallisation, sample preparation and, in combination with an EMBL
beamline visit, with sample characterisation and optimisation.
Usage of the beamlines and biophysical facilities for translational
research can in part be supported by the iNEXT project (http://www.inext-eu.org/access/)
of the Horizon 2020 programme of the European Union. iNEXT support
can be requested for the projects conducted before 31 August 2019.
