Dear Colleagues,

I would like to draw your attention to 1 (possibly 2) permanent Band 7 Clinical Scientist posts advertised on NHS jobs. We are excited to offer the opportunity for a Senior Clinical Scientist to join our enthusiastic and dynamic team in Liverpool; the successful candidate(s) will join a team of 3 current STP trainees, 4 Senior Clinical Scientists, 4 Principals, and 3 Consultants.

Liverpool Clinical Laboratories provide core and specialist services for a large adult population, including regional centres for Oncology, Neurology, and Cardiothoracics, as well as a Major Trauma Centre. We have close links with the Clinical Research Facility and the University of Liverpool, with our department providing Biochemistry services for clinical trials and academic research. Within the department, we hold daily clinical case meetings with our Chemical Pathology colleagues and host an exciting lunchtime meeting schedule including talks on local research, development and innovation projects; external speakers from industry; and expert patients.

Our department provides numerous opportunities for development; our Clinical Scientists are involved in teaching on the MSc in Clinical Sciences at the University of Manchester, delivering lectures to medical students and junior doctors, and attending multidisciplinary team meetings and ward rounds. As we prepare to move to a brand new state-of-the-art hospital building in 2020, there will also be opportunities to get involved with service development and validation projects. Within our department, we have a current ACB regional tutor and ACB regional trainee representative, the successful candidate(s) will have full support and encouragement to continue their training and prepare for FRCPath examinations. Trainees in their final year of training, as well as current Senior Clinical Scientists, are encouraged to apply; trainees would be appointed at Band 7 Annexe U until HCPC registration is awarded.

Liverpool is a fantastic place to live for music-lovers, theatre-goers, and sport enthusiasts alike. With the UK’s largest collection of museums and galleries outside of London, Liverpool’s culture and heritage are at the heart of the city.

This post is advertised on NHS jobs (ref: 4-287-LCL-120-18). The closing date is 2nd January 2019.
