Applications are invited for the post of a PhD student, funded by the
University of Regensburg, in the team of the new Chair of Cognitive
Neuroscience (Prof. Angelika Lingnau,
https://www.uni-regensburg.de/psychology-education-sport-science/cognitive-neuroscience/)
at the Institute of Psychology.

The team of Prof. Lingnau examines the behavioural and neural basis of
event perception and recognition, with a particular focus on events caused
by human entities. To this aim, we are using behavioural methods as well as
functional magnetic resonance imaging in combination with representational
similarity analysis (RSA) and multivariate pattern analysis (MVPA). The
team has access to a recently installed research-dedicated 3T Prisma
(Siemens) MRI Scanner, which is equipped with the latest acquisition
protocols for functional and structural MRI and an MRI-compatible EEG
system. Moreover, the team has access to EEG, TMS, behavioural and eye
tracking laboratories.

The PhD student will be expected to design, program and run several
behavioural and fMRI studies, to conduct data analysis and the write-up of
scientific articles, and to train and supervise bachelor students in
running behavioral studies. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, well
organized, capable of working both independently as well as in a dynamic
new team, and should have a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
(Cognitive Neuroscience, Psychology, Computer Science, or a comparable
area). Candidates should have a solid background in Cognitive Neuroscience,
experience with the collection of behavioural and fMRI data, experience
with analysing fMRI data (e.g. FSL, Freesurfer, SPM), programming
experience (e.g. MATLAB), and good writing skills.

This post offers training and development opportunities and is based in the
beautiful town of Regensburg in Bavaria, about an hour north of Munich. The
official language in the team is English.

Applications will be considered until the position is filled. Informal
inquiries should be sent to Angelika Lingnau ([log in to unmask]).
