The vet slides might be of interest to us here at The MERL, to another Rural Museum via the Rural Museums Network, and/or perhaps to the  RVC Museum (https://www.rvc.ac.uk/about/our-campuses/museums) depending on what kind of practice the vets were, what these institutions already hold, provenance, condition, contextual history, etc.

If it’s human-derived samples they’d possibly fall under the remit of the Human Tissue Act 2004. Something to consider.

Andrew.

Hi,

We have to boxes of pathology slides within our service collections. One is from a Vet's practice and dates back to the 1930s - 40s. The other is from a doctors surgery and dates to the 1950s-60s. In both cases the whole collection is predominantly social history, art and textiles.

What we would like is some advice on safe storage and handling? Also, who would be interested if they were transferred to another collection?

Best regards, Dominic
