Hi all,
I have another Office 365 question, hope the below makes sense!
I’m wondering whether anyone is using the
retention part of the global retention and disposal policy/label? As in specifying that content must be kept for x number of years. According to Microsoft, if users “edit or delete content that's included in the policy, a copy of the content as it existed
when you applied the policy is retained”, this is kept in a secure location only accessible by admin roles.
My thoughts are that people should be able to decide to delete ephemeral emails and draft documents, especially from their personal OneDrive without a copy being kept. Therefore it is overkill
to use this feature in a global policy, which would mean that everything everyone does in Office 365 is kept.
I can see a use for this in a specific retention and disposal policy, say where all the documents in a library are invoices and there’s no reason they should be deleted.
Has anyone implemented global retention?
Is there an equivalent concept in the UK as the Australian “Normal administrative practice” which allows the disposal of low-value and short-term information in the normal course of business,
outside of the retention schedule?
Many thanks, Kate
