Just one month to go until our final webinar of 2018

Driving Usage, Demonstrating Value
Wednesday 5 December 2018
Online at 15:30-17:00 GMT, 16:30-18.00 CET, 10:30- 12.00 EST, 07.30-9.00 PDT

Demonstrating the value of scholarly resources to readers and researchers is critical to a variety of stakeholders. In this webinar, we will hear from both publishers and librarians as they share their experiences and perspectives on how best to drive usage of subscriptions.

Join Chair, Kivmars Bowling, Publications Director, SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics) and our panel of experts speakers (below) for a fascinating webinar in which we discover the art of recording or repatriating so called 'dark usage' and much, much more.

Stacey Burke, Science Publishing and Membership Marketing Senior Manager, American Society for Microbiology
Stacey will share ideas about working with institutional sales to engage and inform our librarians as both a customer and as a conduit to reaching researchers.

Michael Levine-Clark, Dean of Libraries, University of Denver
Michael will talk about ways in which librarians can help their users by developing easier paths to licensed and open access content - providing a better user experience and allowing for more accurate understanding of usage.

John Sack, Founding Director, HighWire Press
John will explore how accessing campus-subscribed resources off-campus remains a significant friction point, leading to use of non-publisher resources such as Sci-Hub. He will then introduce how CASA (Campus Activated Subscriber Access) can address this issue by enabling users of Google Scholar to automatically carry their campus authentication with them off-campus.

Brigitte Shull, Senior Vice President, USA and the Director of Scholarly Communications R&D at Cambridge University Press
Brigitte will talk about how Cambridge University Press has been exploring all possible ways in which authors and readers can share content without undermining the sustainability of journals and books - including an agreement with ResearchGate and the launch of the Cambridge Core Share tool.
