=================================================================
Unlocking the UK’s Sound Heritage is an ambitious project to save the nation’s sound heritage and transform access to it. Sound collections today face the twin threat of degradation and the obsolescence of access technology. Archival consensus internationally is that we have approximately 15 years in which to digitise the material that is at risk.
We are looking to recruit a Hub Project Manager, a Hub Cataloguing Manager and a Hub Engineer for the North West Sound Hub as part of a Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) project in partnership with the British Library and Manchester Libraries. These jobs are part of “Unlocking the UK’s Audio Heritage”, an ambitious project funded by the HLF and led by the British Library in conjunction with national and regional partners across the UK. Based at Manchester Central Library as part of the wider Archives+ team, the Hub team will work across the North West region, digitising and cataloguing 5,000 sound recordings held by a range of archive services.
All the roles are full time and fixed term for 3 years.
