Hi Wendy

Well you’re not alone.  Part of me hope this was a typo and they meant £26K .  In the meantime you and the wider list may be interested in my response to them

Dear HR @ St Georges

Re your recent advertisement for a qualified archivist with 3 years experience.  You may be interested to know I was appointed as a professional archivist for my first post with less than 3 years experience for just £500 less than you are offering.  That was 26 years ago.

Perhaps your advertisement has come from your archives?  Or perhaps this was a typo and the post is meant to be £26K

Archives is a professional requiring a post graduate qualification.  You can read sector guidelines for salaries here: https://www.archives.org.uk/latest-news/725-the-ara-launches-new-salary-recommendations.html  The minimum salary that ARA will advertise a newly qualified post is £22,443.

I see one of your benefits is a free lunch.

In archives as in any profession there is no such thing as a free lunch.  I will advise the many archivists and interns I have employed over the years to review your advertisement accordingly.

Yours

Teresa Doherty

A qualified archivist with 3 years experience for £16K? This surely is April Fools Day?
I'm actually insulted by this.
