The University of Manchester wishes to appoint to the post of Professor of Clinical Trial Statistics. This is a leadership role, part of a major initiative to expand and strengthen methodological research and training within the Faculty.

The postholder will have an academic base in the Centre for Biostatistics as Professor of Clinical Trial Statistics. This Centre includes Manchester's UKCRC-registered clinical trials unit. The Centre engages in research into statistical methods arising from collaborative research undertaken with colleagues across the Faculty and has developed an international reputation for innovative statistical research, excellent teaching and interdisciplinary collaboration. The postholder would be expected to further this work, integrating methodological with collaborative research according to their areas of interest and expertise.

Candidates will have an outstanding track record in published research and grant awards along with extensive knowledge of clinical trials, epidemiological methods and health services research. Candidates will be able to show a track record in clinical trials design and delivery. An international reputation evidenced by, for example, journal editorial and grant awarding board membership is essential for appointment at this level.
