INVITATION TO REGISTER

AI-2018 is the thirty-eighth SGAI annual conference in this long-running
series. It offers the perfect opportunity for you to update your knowledge
of current AI developments and applications, and to meet with leading AI
practitioners in a relaxed social environment. This year's conference
brings technical papers on the latest developments in AI, presentations
from industry practitioners with practical experience of applying AI in the
real world, and a range of workshops - ideal for those seeking to expand
and deepen their knowledge of a wide range of AI techniques. All this in
the historic surroundings of Peterhouse, Cambridge's oldest college.

WORKSHOPS

The first day of the conference (Tuesday December 11th) is devoted to
half-day workshops on 'AI for Software Engineering' and 'Semantic Deep
Learning: Enhanced Word Embedding with Semantic Knowledge', in parallel
with a full day workshop comprising the 23rd UK Case-Based Reasoning
Workshop followed by a presentation by Bryn Balcombe about the use of AI
for autonomous racing cars and a demonstration of Roborace. If preferred,
this day can be attended on its own at a special rate.

MAIN CONFERENCE

The second and third days of the conference (Wednesday December 12th and
Thursday December 13th) include:

- Keynote lectures:

* Professor Michael Wooldridge (University of Oxford) on 'From Model
Checking to Equilibrium Checking'

* Dr. James Luke (IBM) on 'How I Survived The AI Winter (& Hope To Survive
The Next One)'

- Technical stream refereed papers on Neural Networks, Planning and
Scheduling, and Machine Learning.

- Application stream refereed papers on Industrial Applications of
Artificial Intelligence, Planning and Scheduling in Action, Machine
Learning in Action, Applications of Machine Learning, and Applications of
Agent Systems and Genetic Algorithms.

- Poster sessions on emerging research and applications in artificial
intelligence

- Special session: short presentations by poster authors

- Panel session on ‘Can Artificial Intelligence Systems be Trusted’

- AI Open Mic session

- Welcome reception on evening of December 11th

This year's conference will be held at Peterhouse College in Cambridge. In
addition to the formal sessions, the conference programme includes a
welcome reception and a Gala Dinner. Plenty of time has been inserted into
the programme to allow discussions with other delegates and time to make
new contacts and renew old acquaintances.

AI-2018 offers a valuable opportunity to keep up to date with developments
in AI and to share experiences in the practical issues of developing AI
based systems.

Discounts are available for students plus members of SGAI, AISB and other
EurAi member societies.
