1) Next Session "Mindful assessment design" Wed 7 Nov 2018
Dr Samuel Elkington (Teesside University, UK)
This session explores the concept of mindful learning as it applies to assessment design. We will cover the current thinking and evidence for promoting self-regulatory practices to reframe student-centred assessment as a primary vehicle for authentically personalised learning. This includes student sensitivity to context and new perspectives, intentionality of attention, managing personal responses to feedback, and resilience. The session concludes with some practical examples of mindful assessment design in higher education.

3) e-Exams Symposium (Melbourne, Australia).
Education institutions now face significant choices in how examinations will be modernised. This will lead to substantial investment over the medium term and will certainly establish the pedagogic framework for higher stakes assessment for years to come - this is your opportunity to engage in the conversation and to be informed for effective decision making for secure, scalable, authentic e-exams.
The e-Exams Symposium will be held face to face on Saturday 24 November 2018 in Melbourne, Australia.
We have secured two international guest keynote speakers.
- Head of e-Learning Service at Alpen-Adria University, Klagenfurt, Austria, a university with 40% uptake of e-exams.
- Senior specialist in e-exams at the national Matriculation Examinations Board of Finland speaking about the roll out of their national e-exams project.
Professor Geoff Crisp, PVC(E) UNSW will chair the proceedings - Geoff is well known for his work on e-Assessment.
Detailed findings from the Australian national project that saw development of an authentic, robust, e-exams platform and 20 trials across multiple university partners will be discussed.
All education sectors are welcome.
This symposium is running just prior to the ASCILITE2018 conference - why not do two Ed Tech events in the one trip!?
