Junior Specialist Position in Psychiatry

 

The University of California, Irvine is recruiting for a Junior Specialist for a Research position in the Department of Psychiatry.  The employee will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator on experiments using Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to understand the distribution of amyloid and tau in the brain of older adults at risk for developing dementia and those with Downs Syndrome.  The research includes experiments to identify brain-based biomarkers for predicting which patients will transition to clinical dementia.  The employee’s primary duties will be to perform imaging quality assurance and data analysis under the supervision of the Principle Investigator.  Additional duties include preparation of data analysis results for presentation and manuscripts.

Requirements – Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Psychology, Biology, related discipline or equivalent related experience.  Experience with the Python programming language and R statistical analysis package desired.
