It would be useful to access the midwifery panel's terms of reference. I had a look on the NMC website but could not find it. I'd have thought/hoped that this was public information. I wonder if anyone has access to it?

Best wishes,

I've just been talking to a midwife colleague who thought that the Chair of the midwifery panel has always been a lay member...even when it was the Midwifery Committee. She wondered if it has to have an 'independent' chair?
Anyone know if that is the case?

I note that Gill Walton is on the panel-does that mean RCM supports the appointment?

Could we write a joint letter to RCM expressing our concern ?

I was going to ask the same question Lesley. This appointment is really concerning and shouldn't go unchallenged. Does anyone know what the RCM's stance is?

I'm being taken back to the concerns expressed in ARM meetings 40 years ago when the Central Midwives Board was replaced by the UKCC. Not that the CMB was perfect by any means, but at least it was clearly focused solely on midwives ....

Very best
