One-day workshops on research methods at University of Hertfordshire aimed at experienced or novice social scientists, health and social care researchers, public health researchers and PhD students.

'Researching Sensitive and Ethically Challenging Topics' - 8 November
The workshop will focus on the challenges of researching sensitive and ethically challenging topics including how, as researchers, we recruit, conduct research "with" and, represent participants' experiences in social science, public health and social care research. We encourage workshop participants to bring their own questions and issues for discussion in small groups. The workshop will be led by Kathryn Almack, Julia Jones and Gill Craig who have substantial expertise in social science and health related research and will draw on their own experiences of research.

'Visual Research Methods' - 5 December
The workshop will focus on the challenges of working with visual methods social science research relating to health, public health or social care. We will take a critical and discursive approach to the topic and encourage participants to bring their own questions and issues. The workshop is led by Wendy Wills and Angela Dickinson, who will draw on their own work using visual methods in funded research to share with participants how the methods work (or not!) in the real world of applied health and care research.
