medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Greetings all,
I am wondering whether there was a liturgical reason (or requirement) for a priest to wash his hands before the sacrament of confession (i.e. others are confessing to him)? I have an account of a priest doing so, and the water used performs a cure. He washes his hands before the confession, though, not afterwards.
Thanks in advance,
Meg
