Hi everyone,
Just a reminder that the University of Bristol will be hosting a
Talis Aspire User Group Acquisitions & Admin meeting on Friday 7th December (Eventbrite password: HelloBristol!).
The following speakers are now confirmed for the morning session:
- Rob Challis and Pete Bowles Barrett, taking a holistic view of how acquisitions policies and procedures at the University of Bristol have evolved since the introduction of Talis Aspire.
- Rhiannon Hawkins and Kelly Hodge on how they have integrated digitisations into their review processes following the University of the West of England's recent move to TADC.
- Bee Sen Gupta and Karen Crouch (GSM London) on how they are using Talis Aspire to introduce and promote a wider range of resources and collections to their students.
- Chris Wares (Pearson College London) on managing an e-only collection as a one-person library and learning resources team, and how reading lists support this.
As with last year's event at LSE, the talks are intended as a conversation starter - attendees will be encouraged to reflect on, and share their own practices, in addition to the traditional Q&A at the end of each presentation. Alison Spencer and Zena Amos
from Talis will also be on hand during the morning session.
In the afternoon, we have two discussion sessions planned:
- Group discussions on LTI integration by VLE. A facilitator in each group will talk about their experience of implementing and using LTI links, then the group will have the opportunity to discuss best practice, issues they've encountered, and suggestions
for future improvements. The intention is to approach this session from a relatively non-technical viewpoint.
- To end the day, a frank, no-holds-barred discussion on how Talis Aspire is working for us now, and where we think it should go in the future. How has the move to the new list view worked out for you? What do you think of the new 3-tier pricing structure
for Talis Aspire, and are you planning to move to Talis Aspire Unlimited? What about Elevate? Basically your chance to share your enthusiasms, frustrations, and hopes for the future - with a view to feeding them back to Talis via the TAUG reps.
Morning tea/coffee and lunch will be provided for all attendees, and - for those of you who do not need to rush back home - we will be heading to Bristol's Harbourside for drinks when the meeting is finished.

We look forward to seeing you in December!
Best wishes,
Rob Challis
