italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies

Dear Colleagues,
As area editor for the Italian literature section of the online Literary Encyclopedia (www.LitEncyc.com <http://www.litencyc.com/>), I seek your collaboration in enhancing the coverage of Italian authors, works, and topics in this resource.

The Literary Encyclopedia was founded in 1998 with the aim of creating an online encyclopedia capable of providing rich support to teaching and research in the humanities. The Encyclopedia would comprise biographies of writers and other salient persons, as well as scholarly profiles of all significant literary texts in world history. It would also provide accounts of the events, cultural movements, institutions and reception that form the context of literary production. Since its foundation, The Literary Encyclopedia has published 8155 articles and over 10,000 short notes, comprising 17 million words, and built a highly sophisticated digital platform which enables all aspects of online publishing and administration. The Literary Encyclopedia is not owned by a commercial publisher but follows a scholar-ownership model. More detailed information – including the encyclopedia’s publishing model, editorial policies, specific information for authors, etc. – can be found on its homepage at www.litencyc.com <http://www.litencyc.com/>, under the ABOUT tab.

I’m excited about the opportunity that The Literary Encyclopedia affords us to reach a potentially vast English-speaking audience around the world and I welcome your contributions. If you are a specialist on an author, work, or topic not currently covered and you might be interested in providing an entry, please contact me at [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>. (Please remember to write to me individually rather than reply to the list-serv.)

Also, I invite you to check out this resource and to share it with your students. To seeThe Literary Encyclopedia’s Italian literature offerings, first log in at www.litencyc.com <http://www.litencyc.com/> using the guest user name ‘AutumnGuest2018’ and password ‘Mahabharata’ (both case-sensitive). Then browse the Published Articles in the Italian volume from the Table of Contents (under Content on the homepage). The Italian volume is also at this link: https://www.litencyc.com/php/browse_volume.php?id_display=33 <https://www.litencyc.com/php/browse_volume.php?id_display=33>
And if your library does not already subscribe to The Literary Encyclopedia, please consider requesting that they do so. A librarian’s prospectus is available through the Managing Editor, Cristina Sandru, at [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>. The full list of institutional subscribers is at http://www.litencyc.com/subscriberlist.php <http://www.litencyc.com/subscriberlist.php>.

Best wishes,
