Dear list members,

I am flagging up the publication of a new book stemming from an interdisciplinary landscape project coordinated by the Universities of Milan and Newcastle, and by the Centro Studi di Preistoria e Archeologia, in the environs of the Orbetello lagoon, Tuscany. The book, entitled ‘Paesaggi d’Acque: la laguna di Orbetello e il Monte Argentario tra Preistoria ed Eta’ Romana’ (Negroni Catacchio, N., Cardosa, M., and Dolfini, A., eds.) discusses the evolution of the lagoon landscape from early prehistory to the late Roman age. Individual chapters discuss the history of research in the area; the natural environment and landscape; survey methods and data analysis; the archaeological raw data (i.e. complete catalogue of finds, all described and illustrated); and the ancient economy and natural resources. The book is concluded by a chapter discussing, in a narrative style, changing environmental and social dynamics of this fragile coastal landscape from the Middle Palaeolithic to late Antiquity. The book is in Italian but includes an extensive chapter by chapter summary in English.

Please see leaflet attached for further details. The book can be purchased from: http://www.preistoria.mi.it/1/shop_1055534.html?product=113888

Best wishes,

Andrea
