Hi - your timing files may be the cause here. I'd check the 3 column text files to make sure there is nothing in them that shouldn't be there. The feat wiki has example 3 column EVs you can use as reference. You might want to check that the script you're using to batch analyze is also clear of any weird typos or extra characters, especially the code that pulls the timing files for each run.

Good luck,

Hello,

I am using version 5.0.11, and am trying to script a FEAT analysis to better automate the process on my end. I've created separate design.fsf files for each subject's functional run (which came form a saved design.fsf file I initially created in the GUI), but am getting the following error when I try to run feat on one of these design.fsf files:

 child process exited abnormally
    while executing
"fsl:exec "${FSLDIR}/bin/feat_model design" $fmri(featModelOpts) -N feat0_model -l logs "
    (procedure "firstLevelMaster" line 43)
    invoked from within
"firstLevelMaster $session"
    invoked from within
"if { $done_something == 0 } {

    if { ! $fmri(inmelodic) } {
       if { $fmri(level) == 1 } {
              for { set session 1 } { $session <= $fmri(mult..."
    (file "/usr/local/fsl/bin/feat" line 390)

I checked the report files, and it contains the following information:

/bin/cp /Users/panlab/Desktop/Curtis_GUI/result/subj_1026_design_1.fsf design.fsf

/usr/local/fsl/bin/feat_model design
No valid
[onset duration strength]
triplets found in /Users/panlab/Desktop/text/FSL_Timing_Files/1026/run1_cond12.txt

FATAL ERROR ENCOUNTERED:
COMMAND:
/usr/local/fsl/bin/feat_model design
ERROR MESSAGE:
child process exited abnormally
END OF ERROR MESSAGE

I'm having trouble diagnosing the error messages, and wanted to see if I could get some guidance as to what I need to do to resolve this issue.

Thanks!

Dan
