Who is Black History Month For?/I Bwy Mae Mis Hanes Bobl Dduon?
Friday, October 26, 2018 at 6 PM – 8 PM
Aberystwyth University, Old College Aberystwyth
Sgwrs panel wedi’i drefnu gan CCPR, Tîm Cydraddoldeb ac Amrywiaeth Prifysgol Aberystwyth a’r Rhwydwaith Gwrth-Hiliaeth Gorllewin Cymru.
A panel discussion organised by CCPR, Aberystwyth University’s Equality and Diversity team and the West Wales Anti-Racism Network.
Ymunwch â ni am sgwrs amserol, bwysig a difyr am gyflwr Mis Hanes Pobol Dduon. Ers ei ddechrau ym Mhrydain yn yr 1980au – ond gyda hanes yn estyn i’r 1920au yn yr UDA – mae Mis Hanes Pobol Dduon wedi tyfu a newid. Yw’r digwyddiad yn cynnig cyfle am weithredau tocynistiadd gan gwmnïau a sefydliadu sydd fel arfer yn parhau i weithio yn erbyn pobl dduon yn strwythurol? Neu yw’r pwyslais o fewn mis penodol yn helpu creu newidiadau bositif trwy weddill y blwyddyn?
Join us for a timely, important and interesting discussion about the current state of Black History Month. Since its beginnings in the UK in the 1980s – but with a history that extends back to the 1920s in the USA – Black History Month has grown and changed. Does the event offer an opportunity for tokenistic actions by companies and institutions which otherwise continue to work against black people? Or does the focus within one month help create positive changes through the rest of the year?
