Preservation Assistant (Fixed-term, part-time):
£18,189 to £21,414 per annum pro-rata depending on skills and experience.
The University of Nottingham is inviting applications for a Preservation Assistant to work within our Manuscripts and Special Collections team.
You will support the preservation of collections including repackaging, box making and document cleaning; assist with conservation projects such as leafcasting and undertaking minor book repairs; support our exhibition and public engagement programmes
by creating mounts and supports for display; and assist with the delivery of public services.
As the successful candidate, you should have a good standard of education evidenced by A levels or equivalent. You should have excellent manual dexterity and good eye/hand co-ordination; ability to handle fragile materials; ability to use tools and sharp
instruments to undertake fine detail work or crafts; and ability to lift and move heavy materials and work at height using ladders. Experience of working in an archive, library or museum environment would be an advantage.

plays a key part in the delivery of this mission.
Manuscripts and Special Collections (MSC) is an Accredited Archive Service and part of the University of Nottingham Libraries, based on the King's Meadow Campus with a dedicated exhibition gallery at Nottingham Lakeside Arts on University Park. MSC preserves
and provides public access to the University's rich collection of archives, manuscripts, rare books and local studies materials. It holds nationally designated collections including the papers of leading Nottinghamshire families and their estates; the records
of local businesses and organisations, including those of the Archdeaconry of Nottingham; the papers of political, diplomatic, literary, scientific and academic figures, including D.H. Lawrence; historical records of the University and its predecessor, University
College Nottingham and named special collections of published works.
This part-time (28 hours per week) post is fixed-term for a period of 1 year.
