The first seminar will be held on 9th October at 5.45 pm. Adrian Steel will be offering a personal reflection on the creation of London's new Postal Museum, which opened to the public
in Summer 2017.
Comprising a world-renowned archive, intriguing museum galleries telling the story of the post, and an unrivalled underground ride on the unique Mail Rail beneath the streets of London, The Postal
Museum has had an extraordinary first year culminating in making the final of the prestigious Art Fund Museum of the Year. But one year on, what lessons can be drawn from the project to turn a museum collection in storage and an archive visited by just a couple
of thousand researchers a year to an immersive heritage attraction? And what has made the central place of the collections, the archive, the Discovery Room, the conservation and digitisation services, such a critical part of its success? Are there any lessons
to be learned to help those attempting this sort of project in the future from the personal experiences of those who led The Postal Museum's remarkable transformation?
