Dear all

The Glucksman Library is looking for a Conservator to work on the Bolton Library held at the University of Limerick. The post is full-time (Specific Purpose Contract), salary Scale: €37,138 - €58,262 p.a., closing date is 12 noon, 31 October.

The successful candidate will be engaged in the conservation of the Bolton Library which consists of early printed books, incunabula and manuscripts as established by archbishop Theophilus Bolton in Ireland during the eighteenth century. The library was deposited with the University in 2016 and is now in a position where it requires a conservation programme following a successful preservation exercise over the last 2 years. This collection of some 12,000 books dating from 1480-2000 in many original bindings requires extensive conservation. This is an opportunity for a conservator to undertake condition assessments and conservation treatment of the books from this unique and significant library.

The post holder will also have the opportunity to set up a book conservation facility in the new extension to the Glucksman Library for the purpose of conserving the Bolton Library.

Applications must be made online via: http://www.ul.ie/hrvacancies/. Your application must include: a letter of introduction indicating how you meet the criteria outlined in the Job description; and a completed online Application Form (separate application forms must be submitted for each post applied for).
