The HK PhD Fellowship is a prestigious award established by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of the HKSAR Government. It aims to attract the best and brightest students in the world to pursue PhD study at Hong Kong's institutions. International students who have graduated or are graduating with a Bachelor's or Master's degree with good academic records and research experience are welcome to apply.

The fellowship awardee will receive:
• a monthly stipend of HK$25,100 (approximately US$3,200 a month)
• a conference and research related travel allowance of HK$12,600 (approximately US$1,600) per year
• CYCSGS Entrance Scholarships (around HK$77,496, approximately US $10,000) to cover the student's tuition and on-campus hostel accommodation fees during the first year of studies.

City University of Hong Kong is ranked #49th globally according to the QS World University Rankings 2018, #4th in the Top 50 Under 50 and #8th in Asia. The Academic Ranking of World Universities by Shanghai Jiao Tong University (2016) placed us #24th in Engineering/ Technology and Computer Sciences. In the field of Engineering, National Taiwan University’s Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities ranked us #1st in Hong Kong, #8th in Asia-Pacific and #12th worldwide. In the U.S. News and World Report University Rankings, CityU is ranked #11th in the Best Global Universities for Engineering (2017), the top ranked school in Hong Kong.

The Systems Engineering and Engineering Management (SEEM) Department has many faculty members who are world-leaders in their respective research areas. Research in systems engineering is conducted in areas such as statistics, reliability, risk analysis, data mining, operations research, manufacturing systems, logistics and supply chains and human factor engineering. Research in engineering management is conducted in areas such as innovation, entrepreneurship, project management, operations management, quality management and engineering asset management.

Application Procedure
Step 1:
Applicants should first submit an initial application at the RGC's Online Application System (OAS) (www.rgc.edu.hk/hkphd) to obtain a RGC reference number (RGC’s deadline: 1 December 2018 [12.00.00 GMT +8 hours]).

Step 2:
Applicants are then required to submit full application, together with supporting documents, to CityU's Online Admission System, and quote the RGC reference number (CityU’s deadline: 1 December 2018).
