Ph.D. and postdoctoral opportunities in multiscale modelling of adhesion

We seek qualified applicants for  postdoctoral and Ph.D. candidates to model molecular adhesion with multiscale methods, including molecular dynamics. We seek an active engage researcher who will be responsible for the development and application of new multiscale simulation methods for the description of biotechnological processes, in particular for the interaction between molecules and surfaces.

We expect that you have a university degree (Master level for the Ph.D. position, Ph.D. for the postdoctoral position) in physics, chemistry or biotechnology with a theoretical orientation. The candidate should have sound knowledge in molecular modelling and simulation of biomolecular systems, in thermodynamics as well as programming skills in e.g. C++, Fortran, Python and parallel algorithms. A very good command of spoken and written English is required. The appointment for the postdoctoral researcher will be initially for 2 years, for the Ph.D. position for three years according to the German governmental payscale.

The Institute of Nanotechnology (staff ~300) is a central pillar of the research program Science and Technology of Nanosystems of the Helmholtz Society and offers a stimulating multidisciplinary work environment addressing many topical problems in nanoscience and technology, both experimentally and theoretically. Since the merger of the former Research Center Karlsruhe and Karlsruhe University, it is part of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, one of the largest research sites in Europe.

Please send applications with a CV documenting your prior scientific achievements and publication record to [log in to unmask] . Deadline for applications is October 14, 2018.
