Dear colleague,

We are pleased to announce the dates of the UK-based meeting on the Study of Earth’s Deep Interior (SEDI) 2019.

This two-day meeting is aimed to bring together researchers working on deep Earth structure and dynamics in alternating years from the international SEDI meeting. We will welcome all aspects of deep Earth research at the meeting and we hope to specifically discuss the density and dynamics of the deep Earth from a variety of disciplines, including mineral physics, seismology, geomagnetism and geodynamics.

We particularly encourage abstracts from postgraduates and early-career researchers.

Announcements regarding registration and abstract submission will follow soon, but please save the dates for now.
We will also organise a conference dinner on the first night of the conference (subsidised for early-career researchers).

Dates:
Wednesday 8th & Thursday 9th May 2019
Followed by the RAS Specialist Discussion meeting on Deep Earthquakes on Friday 10th May 2019 (for those interested)

Location
University College London, Gower St, Bloomsbury, London WC1E 6BT

Confirmed invited speakers:
Vedran Lekic (University of Maryland) - seismology
Andy Biggin (University of Liverpool) - geomagnetism
Hauke Marquardt (University of Oxford) - mineral physics
Veronique Dehant (Royal Observatory of Belgium) - Earth nutations

This meeting is kindly supported by the British Geophysical Association and the Mineral Physics Special Interest group of the Mineralogical Society of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The organisers (Sanne Cottaar, Andy Thomson, Celine Guervilly, Paula Koelemeijer)
