The Hakluyt Society has announced its annual Essay Prize competition. See:

The prize (which can be shared, at the discretion of the judges) has been increased this year to £1,000, which is generous by the standard of comparable prizes.


The Society's scholarly work is concerned with primary accounts of historical voyages and travels and this overlaps significantly with the history of science.

The deadline for submissions is 30 November 2018.
