medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture ... but also this, from Niermeyer: "conjurer aliquem: to conjure, to beseech with invocation of God's name" TGD ________________________________ From: medieval-religion - Scholarly discussions of medieval religious culture <[log in to unmask]> on behalf of Cormack, Margaret Jean <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Monday, September 24, 2018 9:45 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [M-R] conjuration medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture Greetings all, Thanks to those who provided help. I now have another question. I am organizing a Latin reading group making use of MR James' 12 Medieval Ghost stories (and if fanyone is aware of a translation on line, I would like to know . . ) Anyway, I have hunted in the Latin dictionaries most likely to have medieval material and have been unable to come up with a definition for the verb 'conjuro' which MUST mean something related to 'conjuration', as one might conjure a spirit. Any suggestions?
