Dear Colleagues

I just wanted to draw your attention to the new season of the Cinematologists podcast which has just begun with two very different but equally interesting episodes. Season 8 kicked off with a set of interviews recorded at the Film-Philosophy Conference which took place at the University of Gothenburg in July. The episode features interviews with the festival director Dr. Ana Backman Rogers, keynote speaker Dr. Catherine Wheatley and editor-in-chief of the Film-Philosophy journal Dr. David Sorfa, who discuss a range of issues to emerge from a conference themed around the intersections of feminism, film and philosophy.

We also have released an episode featuring a Q&A with film director Bart Layton on his recently released second feature American Animals. The screening took place at Duke of York’s picturehouse in Brighton and Bart is really interesting on the questions of concept, form and context underpinning his highly entertaining, genre splicing documentary/heist film.

You can listen to the podcast on even more platforms now and, of course, you can also follow us on social media:
