Hello Guy

We used a lab area for our Buried bones exhibition https://www.bristolmuseums.org.uk/m-shed/whats-on/skeletons-buried-bones/ which focused how the research on understanding the skeletons is done and had activity for visitors to try themselves. Happy to put you in direct touch with the exhibition team.

Subject: [MCG] Labs in Musuems

Kia ora koutou,

First time emailer (but long time reader) here from Auckland Museum, so hoping the below isn’t much to ask and apologies if the topic as come up before.

We are after some examples of where the GLAM sector has employed the use of ‘labs’ in exhibition spaces. We are looking for good, bad, and indifferent examples; labs that show case the work of researchers, labs that enable visitors to explore, labs as windows into a researcher’s space.

We’re keen to understand what the definition of ‘lab’ in an exhibition space is. It’s a term that gets used a lot to mean a number of things. We also want to try and distil what makes a good lab experience for visitors and conversely what does not.

Please can you send me any links or suggestions!
