Hi,
Do any library authorities have any guidelines on offering library services to housebound customers in their own homes?
Specifically we are thinking of:
· Appropriate ‘professional’ behaviour (asking permission to enter, not wandering
into areas you shouldn’t, using toilet facilities, etc.
· Hospitality / gifts;, not getting drawn into doing extra jobs or giving
advice; what if the customer is a relative or friend?
· Maintaining personal safety (difficult customers, dogs, dirty environment,
etc.) We have some customers that staff aren’t comfortable going into their home and will only leave the bags in a
designated outside space. Does anyone else have that?
· Safeguarding awareness – what to do if you think someone is vulnerable and
you have concerns for their welfare. Do all your home delivery staff (and volunteers?) have safeguiding awareness
training?
Any info gratefully received.
Many thanks,
Jan
