Hi All,

Many thanks to everyone that has responded so far. I'm just re-posting below as a last call for any answers to the questions and I will summarise and share with LIS-MEDICAL at the end of next week.

Thanks again,

Andy Doyle, Medical School Information Specialist
Library Services, Aston University

I have recently moved from the NHS to a new role in the academic sector. The main focus of my new role is to support to a newly formed medical school. It’s a very exciting time as the medical school is about to receive its first intake of students.
After advice from colleagues, meetings with the medical school and a lot of reading, I have a good idea of what I will cover in support/teaching sessions for first year medical undergraduates. This is likely to be their first time studying at degree level. I also have a few ideas that I am working on to engage and support the students throughout the first year, such as a variety of drop-in sessions at timely moments across the year.

To help me challenge and build upon my ideas, I am seeking the valuable knowledge and experience of LIS-MEDICAL members who support medical schools.
If you have experience in this area I would be grateful for your time and responses to the following three questions, which you can either send to me at [log in to unmask] (and I will collate all responses and return them in a post to the list), or reply via the list if you prefer.

1.	For first year medical undergraduates, what library support/teaching sessions did you provide and what did you feel went well (and also what may have not)?
2.	What do you feel are the areas where first year medical undergraduates require the most information support?
3.	Do you have any top tips or words of warning for someone supporting a medical school, that you wished you would have known when you started?

All responses will be much appreciated.
