Finalists for the Digital Preservation Awards 2018 have been revealed today, recognizing a number of new student works in digital preservation.
Finalists for the National Records of Scotland Award for the Most Distinguished Student Work in Digital Preservation are (in no particular order):
'Navigating the PDF/A Standard: A Case Study of Theses' by Anna Oates, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign'Preserving the past: the challenge of digital archiving within a Scottish Local Authority' by Lorraine Murray, University of Glasgow'Essay on the
record-making and record-keeping issues implicit in Wearables' by Philippa Turner, University of Liverpool
Sponsor of the Most Distinguished Student Work in Digital Preservation award, Tim Gollins of the
National Records of Scotland said, ‘it is fantastic to see such interest, enthusiasm and talent emerging in the next generation of our digital preservation community. If the quality of their work is anything to go
by, our digital future is in safe hands.’
Before the judges decide on the winners, members of the Digital Preservation Coalition will be invited to cast their vote on each category once all the finalists have been announced. Members will be asked to select their first and second choices for each category
and are asked to provide feedback to the finalists. Each Full Member, Associate and Allied Organisation of the DPC may submit one vote.
Member votes will open on Monday 10th September
Finalists will then wait until the prestigious Digital Preservation Awards ceremony at the Amsterdam Museum where winners will be announced in front of their own digital preservation community, friends, family and peers from leading organisations on World Digital
Preservation Day.
