Can we look at using the term ‘carer’ which really is difficult for most
disabled people and their families.

Subject: Re: concessions for disabled visitors and/or their carers

We recently (just before the summer) changed our policy and we're currently
looking at it again.

Previously we offered a child rate for both the carer and person being cared
for. Currently, we offer a free ticket for our 45 minute trip (our core
offer) and half price for longer trips and special events. This is the
wording we use on our website's access guide;

"Discounts for Carers and Assistants

We know that some of our visitors require extra levels of support from a
carer or assistant to enable them to access and enjoy their visit to us.
Those providing this support can travel free of charge on our 45 minute boat
trips; please bring along either your carer's network card or your PIP cover
letter as carer identification. This can be offered at a one-to-one level -
if you require more than one-to-one support please get in touch with us
before you visit.

For our longer trips and special events, carers or assistants are eligible
for half price tickets.

If you have any questions about these rates or required identification,
please get in touch with us."

We've found that we've had hundreds of people admitted free as a carer over
the summer so we're currently looking at what our policy for 2019 will be.
I'd be really interested to hear what everyone does and their reasoning
behind it.

Regards,
Sarah
